NEW DELHI (PAN): Afghanistan scored a 2-0 facile victory over Bhutan to book their place in the qualifying round of the Asian Football Confederation Challenge Cup 2012 in the second match in Gurgaon near here on Friday.
Afghanistan had registered a thumping 3-0 win over Bhutan in the first pre-qualifying play-off match on Wednesday.

NEW DELHI, India (PAN) Riding on a brilliant hat-trick by Mohammad Sediq Walizada, Afghanistan humiliated Bhutan 3-0 in the pre-qualifying play-off of the AFC Challenge Cup 2012 played at the Tau Devi Lal Stadium in Gurgaon near India's capital New Delhi.
In a one sided encounter, Afghanistan were off to a dream start when Sediq drew first blood in the very second minute. It was no stopping for Afghanistan as they buttressed the lead before the break with one more goal.

Afghan Soccer League Starts the Spring 2010 Season
The Afghan Sports Federation congratulates the ARIANA Soccer Club team for winning the ASF Afghan Soccer League Spring Season Championship against Afghan United. The final score of the Championship game was 2 to 1 in favor of ARIANA. Both teams played excellent soccer and great sportsmanship was shown throughout the game. We look forward to seeing everyone at ASF's "Afghan Cup 2010"sporting/cultural event on July 9-11.
ASF would like to congratulate the Afghanistan National Basketball Team for winning the Gold Medal at the 2010 South Asian Games in Dhaka, Bangladesh. This was the first time ever the Afghanistan National basketball team took part in and won a championship game at an Olympic sponsored competition. Afghanistan beat India 65-64 with a last second shot at the buzzer by team captain Nafi Mashriqi.
This is a great achievement for Afghan sports around the world and ASF is truly proud of our athletes and organizers who made this possible. Afghan Basketball League Spring 2010

The Afghan Sports Federation's Afghan Basketball League's Spring season finale were played at the Hoop Magic arena on Sunday June 27, 2010.
Four teams including Tha City, Ballers, Aatish Afghan Takeovers made it to the semi-finals that were played an hour before the Championship game.
Team "Ballers" and team "Tha City" played in the Championship game at 7 pm.
"Tha City" won the game in a decisive manner and were declared Champions of the ASF/ABL Spring 2010. MVP of the game was Yusuf Ansary of "Tha City".
Trophies were awarded to both teams by ASF officials.
On March 20, 2010, Afghan Sports Federation hosted its first ever Youth Soccer Clinic for kids ages 7-14. The goal of the clinic was to bring the youth in the community together so they could interact with their peers in a fun and healthy environment.
Over 40 children participated in the half-day event which included soccer drills, scrimmages, and a break for kids to interact and socialize with their peers. Read More
7th ASF "Homaira Rahman Bowling Tournament"
For the 7th year in a row, Afghan Sports Federation successfully held a winter bowling tournament on Sunday, February, 2010 in Annandale, Virginia. The tournament had one of its best turnouts to date with a total of 19 teams participating. Each team was required to have a minimum of 5 players with at least 2 women players per team. In addition, a large amount of family members and friends came to show support and be part of this popular community and sports event.

Eight Virginia teams participated in the 2nd Annual Midnight Madness Indoor Soccer Tournament on Saturday, February 20th, 2010 at Dulles SportsPlex in Ashburn, VA. The participating teams consisted of Khorassan, Afghan 11, Ayienda, Afghan United, Pamir, Ariana, Afghanica, and FC Taban. After a grueling round robin, the top 4 teams advanced to the semi-finals. ASL Championship Game

The Afghan Sports Federation's ASL season came to end in a grand finale on November 16th, 2009 at the Fairfax County South Run Park facilities soccer fields in an exciting game between Afghan 11 and Afghan United teams that reached the Championship game by beating their opponents a week earlier. Despite the cold weather, a horde of supporters from both teams and officials of ASF attended the Championship game with great enthusiasm. The UAE chief cricket patron, who granted the war-hit nation the facility, said: "Bearing in mind the difficulties they have at home, Afghanistan deserve to have a place somewhere where the y can come and feel that they are at home."
