KABUL, Aug 20 (Pajhwok Afghan News): Afghanistan Under-19 cricket team defeated Malaysia by four wickets in their first match of the ACC U-19 Elite Cup 2007 tournament on Monday.
The tournament is being played in Kuala Lumpur, capital of Malaysia. Other participants are: Nepal, Malaysia, Kuwait, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Oman.
The match was played at Kinara Oval Stadium. Bating first, the Malaysian U-19 scored 122 runs in 43 overs. Sher Muhammad Sherzai got three and Ubaid and Aimal secured two wickets each.

Chasing the target, the Afghan team completed the 122 runs for the loss of six wickets. Among the batsmen, Sajid and Noorul Haq were the top scorers with 34 runs each.

Secretary General of the Cricket Federation Taj Malak Alam told Pajhwok over the telephone that bowler Sher Muhammad was declared man-of-the-match.

The Afghan squad will play its second match of the tournament against Qatar tomorrow.
