KABUL, Aug 20 (Pajhwok Afghan News): The National cricket team will leave for Pakistan on Tuesday to participate in the Grade-B cricket tournament there.
Addressing a news conference here on Monday, an official of the Cricket Federation Hayatullah Ahmadzai said the team was visiting the neighbouring country on an invitation from the cricket board there.
During the 18-day visit, the national team would play matches against cricket squads from Peshawar, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swat and Dir, said the official.
All the matches would be played in NWFP. Each of the two-day matches would consist of 180 overs while 90 overs will be played each day. He said the Afghan team would play its first match against Dir three days back.
Speaking to Pajhwok Afghan News, press officer with the Cricket Federation Zarab Shah Zaheer said the players were busy in practice over the previous one week.
He added eight players of the national team had visited India last month and the tour gave them a valuable experience and confidence.
He said the Roshan mobile company was sponsoring their travel to Pakistan and participation in the tournament. Skipper of the team Nauroz Mangal hoped their tour would be successful.
