The delayed Olympic qualifier between host Vietnam and Afghanistan will be re-organized next Wednesday, after FIFA justified force majeure had caused the latter to miss the game yesterday.

The Vietnam Football Federation said they are arranging so that next week’s match will be held at 5pm on Thien Truong stadium in central Nam Dinh province.

Vietnamese assistant coach Tran Cong Minh said his team would gather again on Saturday to prepare for the encounter after it had been disbanded early this week following AfghanistanR17;s report that they could not fly to Vietnam due to a booking failure.

Despite verifying the force majeure, FIFA did not confirm the exact reason the team from the war-torn country got the benefit of the doubt. There were some difficulties in Vietnam from the delay, as ticket printing, hotel bookings and TV scheduling all has to be redone for the coming match.

Other Asia Olympic qualifiers kicked off Wednesday with results as follows: Australia crushing Taiwan 11-0, Pakistan – Singapore 2-1, Uzbekistan – Tajikistan 4-1, India – Myanmar 1-1, Hong Kong – Bangladesh 3-0, Indonesia – Maldives 1-0, Yemen – Palestine 2-1, Thailand – Turkmenistan 1-0.
