Basketball: Afghanistan vs Hong Kong, China latest

Afghanistan and Hong Kong, China are battling it out at the Basketball
Indoor Hall at Sport City
Afghanistan made a dream start as they scored nine points without reply at
the start of the Group C preliminary round match against Hong Kong, China.

The Hong Kongers struck back swiftly however to reduce the deficit to 13-6
with five minutes of the 1st quarter remaining.

But Afghanistan regained their composure in the face of the spirited Hong
Kong, China attack to lead 19-14 at the break, with Bilal Azizi racking up six
points and celebrating to James Brown’s ‘I Feel Good’ playing over the
speaker system.

2nd quarter

Abdullah Karimi hit a late 3-pointer to give Afghanistan a slender 34-33
advantage at half time.

Hong Kong, China enjoyed had enjoyed the better of the 2nd quarter,
recovering from 19-14 behind to move ahead 25-22 with some swift attacks.

Lee Kiu fung scored 13 points for the Hong Kongers but Afghanistan stayed in
touch and reclaimed the lead on the buzzer to boost their confidence.
