Five Afghan athletes to receive special diplomas

KABUAL - Five Afghan athletes who participated in the 15th Asian Games held in Qatar would be awarded with Asian competition diplomas. The 15th Asian games were held from December 1 to December 15, 2006 with participation of athletes from 45 countries, including 50 Afghans. Sayed Mahmood Zia Dashti, head of Kurash Federation and the deputy director of the Afghan Olympics Committee told Pajhwok Afghan News: "We received the diplomas two days ago from the Asian games committee." He said the diplomas will be handed over to Abdul Karim Wahidi wrestler, Nisar Ahmad Bahawi and Rohullah Nekpa in Taekwando, Jawad Hussieni and Mohammad Fidaie in Karate. He added the diplomas will be awarded to the players in a ceremony next week. He said the diplomas have the values after a medal and the players will be awarded with scholarship to get training abroad for six months to prepare for 2010 games held in China. Afghanistan got 36th position in the15th Asian games and Nisar Ahmad Bahawi won a bronze medal in Taekwando
