Afghan Basketball League Season III
Congratulations to team Khudrat for Capturing the CHAMPIONSHIP Trophy!!!
- July 21th, 2008

After a long and exciting ABL season III, team Khudrat prevailed as the new Champions. They beat Lost Boyz 64-58 in a very close and competitive match. Shakil Rahman of Khurdrat was named MVP. Congtulations to all the teams that participated in season III of Afghan Basketball League, Virginia. Season IV is just around the corner, opening game set for middle of October.

Virginia Afghan United (VAU)

As part of player development program, ASF has organized and united all top ABL players in a 3 month training program, with professional coaching staff supervision. The newly Virginia United team has also been fully sponorsed to play in local Division 1 Basketball league, and to participate in other national and international tournaments.

This program is designed to train, encourage and advance current Afghan talent pool in Virginia (East Coast) by providing the logistics and moral support our young Afghan athlets deserve.

Afghan Youth Basketball Development Program

As an extension to Virginia Afghan United program, ASF has organized a youth clinic program to be lanched this October. This program is designed for our Afghan youth with the opportunity and ability to encourage, develop and advance their basketball abilities. The program is free of charge and ASF encourages everyone to register their young ones ASAP. Space is limited!

Afghan Basketball Tournament - 4th of July 2008

As part of the annual 11th year celebration of Afghan Cup 2008, ABL sponsored the Afghan Basketball Classic in Virginia. There were exciting games played and Afghan Ballers of Virginia/New Jersey become the Champions, repeating their last year's Cup. Ballstars of Virginia placed 2nd. Proud Afghans make emotional return


The smiles on the faces of Afghanistan's basketball players said it all as they paraded their national flag during a lap of honor following a victorious return to international competition. Afghanistan had just beaten Hong Kong, China in their opening match at the 15th Asian Games Doha 2006, following years of exile from the basketball scene.
