On Sunday March 27th, 2011 the Afghan Sports Federation (ASF) held it 8th annual Bowling Tournament at AMF Centreville Lanes in Centreville, Virginia. Teams consisting of Afghan athletes, both women and men, participated in a day long tournament with several rounds of exciting close games. Teams were made up of at least two female and three male bowlers, included players from experienced to novice levels.
At the end of the second round of competition, four teams went ahead to compete in the semi-finals that resulted in last year's two dominant teams, “Tora Bora” and “Unbeatable” to emerge and face each other in a re-match.
A one round of intense and exciting bowling resulted in team “Unbeatable”, led by Azi Wasiq, beating team “Tora Bora” for the Championship title of ASF's 8th annual Bowling Tournament. This was Azi's second straight time leading his team to a championship title.
At the end of the event, trophies were presented to the winning teams by ASF officials, Wyce Baber (Bowling Commissioner) and Tabasum Lutfi. Trophies were also given to the most valuable men's and women's players in the final championship round, which were Fazel Qayumi for men’s MVP and Roya Ali for women’s MVP.
Overall, it was yet another successful bowling tournament and members of ASF is grateful for everyone's attendance and support.
